Students turning architecture building green
March 29th, 2010 @ 4:13pm

SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah engineering students are trying to change the future by turning their architecture and planning building green.

Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker said, "They are really as a college serving as a model for the future of what we need and want in terms of our building design to have a sustainable future."

The university plans to turn the 40-year-old structure into a building with net-zero energy consumption and zero carbon emissions each year.

Becker says the building will be a case study for the city to duplicate as it moves closer to net-zero with future buildings.
