KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — IOC president Thomas Bach arrived in Malaysia on Friday ahead of executive board meetings and a general session which will determine the host city for the 2022 Winter Olympics — either Beijing or Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The vote for the 2022 host city will be held July 31.

Bach says, "We are looking forward to an important executive board meeting and IOC session ... one year to go for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the elections of the host for the Winter Games in 2022 and the Youth Games in '20. So it will be a good agenda."

Beijing is attempting to become the first city to host both a Winter and Summer Olympics. It hosted the Summer Games in 2008.
