PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) — IOC coordination commission leader Gunilla Lindberg says organizers of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang are well poised to move from planning to operational mode with six months remaining before the first of the test events.
Lindberg, who led an Internationl Olympic Committee delegation on a two-day project review, said organizers were ready for the transition under the leadership of Cho Yang-ho, and the quality of preparations at test event venues in Bowang, Jeongseon, and the Alpensia Sliding Centre "underlined Korea's well-deserved reputation in this field."
Cho said the tour highlighted the good progress in construction, marketing, and sponsorship preparations since the commission's last visit in March.
POCOG will present a games update to the IOC's executive board meeting and session in Kuala Lumpur next week.
