Bill Marolt will step down as president and CEO of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association on Monday, to be replaced by former Alpine skier Tiger Shaw, who competed in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
Marolt had been planning to step down after the Olympics, and the timing of the move was announced Friday. The USSA won 17 medals at the Sochi Games, and 21 four years ago in Vancouver.
When Marolt came to USSA in 1996, the federation had won four Alpine medals at the previous Olympics.
Under his guidance, the USSA lobbied to have several action sports added to the Olympic program.
That success, plus improvements across the board in athlete training and funding, have turned the United States skiing program into a double-digit winner the last four Olympics.
