Kashima keeps pressure on Kawasaki in Japan

TOKYO (AP) — Shoma Doi scored twice as Kashima Antlers thrashed Ventforet Kofu 4-0 on Sunday to keep the pressure on J-League leaders Kawasaki Frontale.

Doi scored in first-half stoppage time and doubled the lead shortly after the break. Gaku Shibasaki and Mu Kanazaki added second-half goals to seal the win for the seven-time league champions.

Kashima improved to 30 points from 14 games, one point behind Kawasaki, which beat Jubilo Iwata 1-0 through an own goal.

Also, Takumi Miyayoshi scored two goals as defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima coasted past Avispa Fukuoka 4-0.

Peter Utaka and Kosei Shibasaki also scored for Hiroshima, which improved to 21 points.

Yuji Nakazawa scored in the first half and Manabu Saito and Park Jeong-su added goals in the second half as Yokohama F Marinos beat Kashiwa Reysol 3-0.

Vegalta Sendai beat Albirex Niigata 4-2 and Shonan Bellmare defeated Nagoya Grampus 2-1.

FC Tokyo edged Gamba Osaka 1-0 and Sagan Tosu and Urawa Reds finished in a goalless draw.
