MADRID (AP) — Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has been ruled out of the Spanish league game at Valencia this weekend after being diagnosed with a minor knee injury.

The club said on Friday that the Wales player has a "joint strain in his right knee" and "his recovery will continue to be assessed."

A shot by Bale helped Madrid beat Manchester City 1-0 in the semifinals of the Champions League on Wednesday.

Madrid also is likely to be without goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who was diagnosed with tendinitis in his left foot, but Karim Benzema and Casemiro, who didn't play against City, could return from their injuries in Sunday's game.

Madrid has won 10 straight league games and trails Barcelona and Atletico Madrid by a point with two rounds to go.
