Garth sparks Lamar late, Cardinals top Nicholls State, 87-76

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Nick Garth came off the Lamar bench to score 18 points and the Cardinals overcame a six-point halftime deficit to beat Nicholls State, 87-76 on Saturday.

Garth drilled a 3-pointer with 8:52 to give Lamar the lead for good, 62-60. Another Garth 3 gave the Cardinals a 76-67 lead, then he fed Joey Frenchwood for a trey to push the lead into double digits, 79-67.

Zjori Bosha and Dorian Chatman each contributed 15 points for the Cardinals (12-8, 4-3 Southland), who shot 51.9 percent from the field (28 of 54), including 8 of 22 from beyond the arc. Josh Nzeakor added 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Lamar held a 41-33 advantage on the boards, including 15 caroms off the offensive glass.

Ja'Dante' Frye scored 16 points and Stevie Repichowski and Johnathan Bell each scored 15 points for Nicholls (10-10, 3-4). The Colonels got 12 points from their bench.
