WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Wizards rested forward Paul Pierce for Wednesday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 37-year-old Pierce has struggled of late, and scored just two points on 1 of 6 shooting in Sunday's loss to the Rockets.

Over his past five games, he's averaging 4.6 points per game while shooting 6 of 27 (22 percent) from the field.

Pierce is averaging 12.2 points and four rebounds per game overall in his first season with the Wizards.

Otto Porter started in place of Pierce.

Wizards coach Randy Wittman said before the game that reserve forward Kris Humphries was expected to return against the 76ers after missing 16 games with a groin injury.
