NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans forward Anthony Davis will miss Friday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers because of a groin strain.

The Clippers will have JJ Redick back after the shooting guard missed one game with back spasms. Reddick averages 14.9 points for Los Angeles, which enters the game on a six-game winning streak.

Pelicans coach Monty Williams says Davis, who was hurt in a collision with Denver's Kenneth Faried on Wednesday night, wanted to play. Williams added his leading scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker was hampered by the injury during pregame workouts.

Williams says he wants Davis to focus on rehabilitation and try to return for Monday night's game against Atlanta.
