UNDATED (AP) — The Indiana Pacers have managed to tie their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series at a game apiece by dominating the third quarter of a 101-85 win over Atlanta.

The Hawks led by four points before the Pacers outscored them 31-13 in the third period to salvage a split on their home court. George Hill scored all 15 of his points in the second half to lead the Indiana surge.

Paul George poured in 27 points while holding Jeff Teague (teeg) to 14.

Paul Millsap had a team-high 19 points for the Hawks, who host Game 3 on Thursday.

Toronto also knotted its conference quarterfinal series at a game apiece by rallying in the fourth quarter to beat the Brooklyn Nets 100-95. DeMar DeRozan had 30 points to help the Raptors bounced back from a 94-87 loss to the Nets on Saturday. Jonas Valanciunas (YOH'-nahs val-ehn-CHOO'-nuhs) had 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Raptors, who outscored Brooklyn 36-29 in the final period.

NBA-COACH OF THE YEAR

Spurs' coach tabbed as best

UNDATED (AP) — San Antonio's Gregg Popovich has joined Pat Riley and Don Nelson as the only coaches to win the NBA's Coach of the Year Award three times.

Popovich led the Spurs to a league-best 62-20 record, ensuring them home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. He has led the Spurs to 15 straight 50-win seasons, finishing with at least 60 victories four times in that span.

Popovich garnered 59 first-place votes. Phoenix's Jeff Hornacek (HORN'-uh-sehk) finished second and Chicago's Tom Thibodeau (THIH'-buh-doh) was third in the voting.

NBA-WARRIORS

New arena for Golden State

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Golden State Warriors have agreed to terms to buy 12 acres of land in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood to build a new arena.

The team was originally hoping to build a new arena on the city's waterfront area, but those plans faced opposition from critics concerned about traffic, environmental issues and blocked views of the Bay Bridge. The proposed arena is targeted for a 2018-19 opening and will hold about 18,000 seats. The Warriors say it will be privately financed on private land near the San Francisco Giants' ballpark.

NHL-PLAYOFFS

Habs complete sweep of Lightning

UNDATED (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens are the first team to advance to the NHL's conference semifinals after completing a sweep of Tampa Bay.

The Habs blew a 3-0 lead in the third period before Max Pacioretty (pash-uh-RET'-ee) scored a power-play goal with 43 seconds remaining to give them a 4-3 triumph over the Lightning. Daniel Briere (bree-EHR'), Lars Eller and Brenden Gallagher also tallied for the Canadiens, who outshot Tampa Bay 37-23.

The Lightning made things interesting when Victor Hedman and Tyler Johnson scored 3:02 apart to knot the score early in the third period.

Also on ice:

— Boston has a 2-1 series lead after Tuukka (TOO'-kah) Rask turned back 23 shots in a 3-0 shutout of the Red Wings in Detroit. Patrice Bergeron (pah-TREES' BEHR'-zhur-ahn) had a goal and an assist for the Bruins, who took a 2-0 lead on first-period goals by Dougie Hamilton and Jordan Caron.

MLB-SCHEDULE

Pujols reaches 500 home runs

UNDATED (AP) — Albert Pujols (POO'-hohlz) has become the 26th player in major league history to belt 500 career homers, and the third-youngest to reach the milestone.

The 34-year-old Pujols also became the first player to hit his 499th and 500th home runs in the same game, doing it in the Los Angeles Angels' 7-2 win over Washington.

The Angels first baseman hit a three-run shot in the first inning and a two-run drive in the fifth to finish with five RBIs. Both round-trippers came off Taylor Jordan.

Tyler Skaggs improved to 2-0 by limiting the Nationals to two runs and three hits in seven innings.

Checking out the rest of the major league schedule:

— Jose Fernandez matched a career high with 14 strikeouts in eight innings and combined with Steve Cishek (SEE'-shehk) on a three-hitter in Miami's 1-0 shutout in Atlanta. Giancarlo Stanton doubled and scored on Casey McGehee's (mih-GEEZ') single in the fourth off Alex Wood, who allowed just two other hits and struck out a career-high 11 in eight innings.

— St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright is 4-1 with a 1.46 ERA after giving up four hits in seven innings of the Cardinals' 3-0 shutout of the New York Mets. Jon Jay snapped a scoreless tie with a two-run single in the fourth before Matt Holliday added an RBI single in the ninth.

— Johnny Cueto (KWAY'-toh) tossed a three-hitter and reduced his ERA to 1.38 in leading Cincinnati's 4-1 victory in Pittsburgh. Cueto also hit an RBI single in the ninth and was two outs from a shutout until Andrew McCutchen homered.

— Jacoby Ellsbury provided a triple and a two-run double while scoring twice in his return to Boston, leading the New York Yankees to a 9-3 rout of the Red Sox. Ellsbury received a mixture of boos and applause in his first game at Fenway Park since leaving the Bosox for a free-agent contract with the Yankees.

— Toronto and Baltimore were tied 3-3 in the eighth until Brett Lawrie and Melky Cabrera smacked three-run homers to power the Blue Jays past the Orioles 9-3. Edwin Encarnacion (ehn-kahr-nah-see-OHN') also hit a three-run shot for the Jays, a half inning after Nelson Cruz did the same for the Birds.

— Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBIs in Detroit's 8-3 pounding of the Chicago White Sox. Ian Kinsler drove in a pair and scored twice to support Justin Verlander, who is 3-1 after allowing two runs and eight hits in seven innings.

— Tampa Bay was a 7-3 winner against Minnesota as David Price struck out 12 in a six-hitter. David DeJesus was in an 0-for-24 skid before delivering an RBI single and a two-run single.

MLB-SUSPENSIONS

MLB comes down on Pirates and Brewers

UNDATED (AP) — Major League Baseball has suspended four players involved in last Sunday's brawl between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended for five games while outfielder Carlos Gomez will sit out three. Pittsburgh outfielder Travis Snider will miss two games, with Russell Martin suspended for one game.

Maldonado has begun his suspension, but Gomez, Snider and Martin plan to appeal.

Also in the majors:

— The San Francisco Giants have placed left-hander David Huff on the 15-day disabled list and recalled outfielder Juan Perez from Triple-A Fresno. Huff strained his left quad running out an infield single in the third inning of last night's 8-2 loss at Colorado.

— Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Matt Moore could be sidelined 12 to 15 months after undergoing elbow ligament replacement surgery. Moore left his start on April 7 in Kansas City due to elbow soreness, and was placed on the 15-day disabled list the following day. He was an All-Star last season before finishing 17-4 with a 3.29 ERA.

— Mike Minor's season debut has been pushed back so the Braves' left-hander can make one more minor league start in his recovery from tendinitis in his left shoulder. Manager Fredi Gonzalez says Minor will start for Double-A Mississippi in Pensacola on Friday. Minor had urinary tract surgery on Dec. 31, which pushed back his spring schedule before he developed the shoulder soreness.

Castroneves on probation for tweet

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — IndyCar has put Helio Castroneves (EHL'-ee-oh kas-troh-NEH'-vehz) on probation through June for violating the series' social media policy.

Castroneves was penalized for a tweet sent from his official account after the Long Beach, Calif., race on April 13. He criticized race control for not penalizing drivers during the race, and included an image of IndyCar's official logo with a "thumbs down" symbol photo-shopped in the center.

Castroneves later posted that his sister had sent the missive from his account without his permission.
