HERRIMAN -- The health department cannot say for sure that the green foam is coming from Utah Lake, but it has confirmed that algae is to blame for green foam bubbling up from irrigation grates and running through canals in Herriman.
Residents and farmers who have had their irrigation water turned off as a result of an algal bloom at Utah Lake had asked officials to restore the connection so they could start watering again. Shortly afterward, the green foam started appearing.
The health department is still on scene.
