SALT LAKE CITY — The holidays are coming, and with that permits will start being issued by the U.S. Forest Service to legally cut down trees from Utah national forests this season.

Some, such as Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and Fishlake National Park, begin this week. Other national forests in Utah will begin the sale later this month.

Some of the national forests are participating in the Every Kid in a Park initiative, which will provide families of fourth-graders a free tree with the proper paperwork.

In Beaver, blue spruce trees will not be allowed to be cut.
