SALT LAKE CITY — Novices and experts on app development are invited to join this year’s international LDStech Gospel App and Game Challenge.

Interested participants should create an app under the theme “Create Something Worthy” and need to register by July 18 and submit their app by Sept. 18, according to a press release on LDS.org.

The submissions should be unique and fit into one of four categories, including Children, Youth, Families and Other.

Participants are also encouraged to create something to help people teach or learn the gospel, feel the spirit or learn to better serve others. The games should be gospel-oriented, fun and refrain from graphic violence, LDS.org reported.

Awards, prizes and recognition will be available in each category. The games and apps should be compatible with an iOS, Android, Windows or online platform.

Participants, who will maintain ownership of their intellectual property, do not need to travel for a live demonstration of their product.

The contest winners will be announced at the 2015 LDSTech Conference Oct. 15. LDSTech will then assist in promoting those apps and games.

To register and submit a game or app, use the registration form. For more details about the contest, visit the Contest Page. Additional information can be found at the Wiki and Forum sections of LDSTech.org.

There is an app ideas page available.

For more help, visit the FAQs or email questions to gameappcontest@lds.org.

Last year’s contest, which carried the same theme, was successful, and even more are anticipated to participate this year, according to the release. Participants who missed the last deadline or who have greatly improved their apps are encouraged to get involved again.
