WASHINGTON (AP) - A bipartisan group of lawmakers wants the president to disclose what the U.S. spends at every intelligence agency, every year.
Democratic Rep. Peter Welch from Vermont and Republican Cynthia Lummis from Wyoming and others sent a letter to Barack Obama Tuesday calling on him to reveal the cost for each of the 16 intelligence agencies' costs in his budget to Congress next month.
The group wants such information routinely available.
The Director of National Intelligence publishes an overall intelligence budget figure every year, but has argued against providing more detail, saying it would let U.S. enemies know what the U.S. spends on satellite imaging versus human spying, for instance.
The 2013 intelligence budget was reported in The Washington Post from documents taken by former NSA analyst Edward Snowden.
