PARIS (AP) - France's foreign minister is warning against unguarded optimism over this week's talks between Iran and six leading world powers over Tehran's nuclear program.
Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius says "it's too early to draw conclusions." He says any gestures toward Iran should be "prudent" given past difficulties in getting Iran to provide more information about its nuclear activities.
Fabius' comments to French legislators on Thursday contrast with more optimistic comments from some other participants at this week's Iran nuclear talks in Geneva. He said France "does not confuse appearances with reality."
Top negotiators announced a follow-up round of Iranian nuclear talks early next month in Geneva and described progress in efforts to reduce international fears that Tehran is seeking nuclear weapons. Tehran says it only wants nuclear energy.
