NEW YORK (AP) — Rachel Maddow's top producer at MSNBC is the new man in charge on the daytime talk show "The View."

ABC announced Thursday that Bill Wolff is the new executive producer of "The View," which begins a new season on Sept. 15. Wolff replaces Bill Geddie, who decided not to stay when ABC said Wolff would be brought in alongside him. Three other behind-the-scenes appointments were made.

ABC's release did not mention the show's inventor, Barbara Walters, who had said when she retired from an on-air role last spring that she would continue working at the show behind the scenes. Walters was consulted about the changes and retains her title as one of the show's executive producers, says spokeswoman Lauri Hogan.

More panelists are expected to be named to join Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell.
