LONDON (AP) - The niece of fashion designer Ralph Lauren has been fined 2,000 euros ($2,725) for an air rage incident on a New York-bound plane that forced it to land in Ireland.

Jewelry designer Jenny Lauren pleaded guilty Wednesday to breaching the peace and being drunk on the Delta Air Lines flight from Barcelona, Spain to New York. The crew made an unscheduled two-hour stop in western Ireland to remove her from the plane.

The 41-year Lauren's attorney told an Irish court that Lauren was embarrassed by her actions, which were caused by a reaction to alcohol mixed with medication. Defense attorney Sharon Curley said Lauren suffers from depression.

Garda Inspector Tom Kennedy told the court that Lauren ranted, shouted incoherently and shoved a stewardess, who hit her back against a wall.
