HOLLYWOOD — When you want to close your awards show with “Let It Go,” and Idina Menzel is busy on Broadway and Demi Lovato is out on tour, you get the next best thing — Aaliyah Rose.

The 11-year-old songstress from Provo was singing at a BYU baseball game last week when she got the surprise of her life: Radio Disney showed up to offer her a spot on stage at the Radio Disney Music Awards singing the famous tune from “Frozen.”

“It was my first plane ride, and I got to sing on the airplane — on the intercom,” Rose said.

The magic just kept coming as Rose prepared to take the stage at the Nokia Theatre at LA Live. The theater holds over 7,000 people.

“The most I ever sang for is probably 200 at the Covey Center,” Rose said.

Still, she wasn’t nervous. Rose said it was super exciting to take the stage surrounded by stars she had long admired.

Zendaya and Aaliyah

She specifically mentioned Zendaya and Ariana Grande saying they are her role models. An avid Disney Channel fan, she recognized and got to meet many stars from the current lineup.

And as the grand finale, Rose got to shine as brightly as any of them.

“I tried on a lot of different dresses. Then they picked one and added accessories, did my hair and makeup. It was awesome,” Rose said.

Clad in a sparkly blue dress, she belted the now-famous song in front of a clearly adoring crowd of strangers and friends alike.

“I was just thankful that my mom and dad could go, and my grandma got to come with us and some of my family and close friends got to come and support me,” Rose said.
