THE GLADE — Young-adult adaptations are the darling of Hollywood these days after the massive success of the Twilight and Hunger Games franchises. Another YA adaptation hopes to take center stage this week as “Divergent” is released, but another book wanted to make sure it was noticed as well.
The first trailer for the adaptation of the novel “The Maze Runner” has been released, and it’s quickly catching the attention of moviegoers.
The film is based on the book of the same name written by James Dashner, a BYU grad and resident of Utah.
“The Maze Runner” is the first book in the Maze Runner series, and the film’s first trailer teases us with action, mystery and — a girl.
The film stars Dylan O’Brien, who is best known for his role on the TV series “Teen Wolf,” and a co-starring role in the Vince Vaughn-Owen Wilson comedy, “The Internship.”
As someone who has not read the books, this trailer has piqued my interest in the series and I am now curious to see the film.
What did you think of the first trailer? Does it seem to do the book justice? If you haven’t read the books, does the trailer interest you in the films? Let us know.
“The Maze Runner” is due in theaters on Sept. 19.
