SALT LAKE CITY — The film adaptation to Orson Scott Card’s “Ender’s Game” finally has a teaser trailer.

On Tuesday, Google + hosted a Hangout for the teaser’s world premiere, which included a live conversation with director Gavin Hood, producer Bob Orci and the actor playing Ender Wiggin, Asa Butterfield.

“When you see the trailer, you’ll see the effects have finally caught up with the story in the book,” said Orci.

Orci’s sentiments are obvious in the first few clips from the revealed footage. Fighter jets scramble through a sea of alien attackers as Colonel Hyrum Graff, played by Harrison Ford, describes mankind's first encounter with the unearthly antagonists.

“They know our strategies. They’ve learned our weaknesses. And the alien attack nearly destroyed us.”

Like most teasers, the under-two-minute clip ends long before any real details are revealed concerning the scope of the story or how they plan to tackle several fan-favorite moments. But the teaser does provide audiences with their first real look at the overall design, and with the Nov. 1 release date fast approaching, a steady stream of details and longer clips won’t be far behind.

From Summit Entertainment:

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he's trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
