CEREAL MILK PANNA COTTA WITH SHRIVELED STRAWBERRY HEARTS

For the panna cotta

• 3 cups Corn Flakes

• 1.5 cups whole milk

• 1 cups heavy cream

• ¾ teaspoon kosher salt

• ¼ cup packed light brown sugar

• 1/2 tablespoon powdered gelatin

• Strawberries

• Pomegranate Molasses

For the panna cotta

1. To make panna cotta, heat oven to 300 degrees. Spread cereal on a baking sheet and bake until toasty, about 12 minutes. While still warm, transfer to large bowl or container and add milk and cream. Stir to combine and let steep 45 minutes. (Dessert will get too starchy if it steeps longer.)

2. Strain into a microwave-safe bowl or a saucepan, pressing to extract liquid. (Discard soggy cereal or eat it.) Add salt and brown sugar, and heat just until milk is hot enough to dissolve sugar, watching carefully. Stir gently to dissolve sugar. Ladle 1/4 cup milk mixture into a small bowl and mix in gelatin. Set aside 5 minutes, then whisk soaked gelatin back into remaining milk mixture.

3. Divide mixture among 8 ramekins or non-heart shaped dishes. Refrigerate until set, about 2 hours. If using ramekins, cover and reserve until ready to serve.

4. Clean the strawberries and sauté in a pan with pomegranate molasees until soft and tangy. 5. Skewer strawberries with funny vampire stakes and serve over panna cotta.

Strawberry Gelee (For an Anti-Valentine's Day Petri Dish)

• 2 cups fresh strawberries

• 1 cup water

• 2 1/2 teaspoons gelatin

• 1/2 cup cane sugar

• 1/4 cup golden rum or champagne or sherry or red wine

• Sour Cream, Nuts, Other Funny Ingredients that Look Good in a Petri Dish

Instructions:

• Pour water into a small bowl and sprinkle gelatin over the top. Let stand for 5 minutes or until dissolved. Place washed strawberries into blender and puree until smooth. Strain through fine-mesh strainer and discard anything left behind. Place strawberry puree, sugar and rum into a small saucepan; bring to a simmer over medium heat. Whisk water and gelatin, then combine with strawberry. Bring to a simmer again, then remove from heat. Set strawberry liquid in a Petri dish or in a nice dessert bowl.

• Add other fun ingredients such as torn cake, dots of sour cream and anything else that will not remind you of a romantic Valentine's Day Dessert
