We all try to save energy where we can. But your wattsmart ideas could win you 10-thousand dollars in home upgrades.
Paul Murphy from Rocky Mountain Power is telling us about this year's Act Wattsmart Video Contest.
There are easy ways for you to save energy everyday in your home:
- Lighting - use new Energy Star qualified LED and CFL bulbs
- Kitchen Appliances - keep coils clean, set refrigerator at 37F-40F and freezer to 0F for efficiency, upgrade to Energy Star qualified appliances
- AC - clean/replace filters, have your AC tuned up, use a programmable thermostat
- Water Heater - instal energy-efficient shower heads, set water heaters to 120F
- Gadgets - unplug appliances/gadgets that continue to draw power when not in use (video games, cell phones, etc.), utilize smart power strips, timers
