The official record for the largest fish caught is Curt Bilbey who caught a whopping 51-point-8 pounder back in 1988. The lake trout was more than 48-inches long. Ten years later, Ray Johnson caught a lake trout that was just two inches shorter...Johnson released the fish back into the reservoir. Johnson also caught a 2 pound 8 ounce white sucker a few years before that. He is also on record as catching the largest Kokanee Salmon at Flaming Gorge. And not to outdo himself, Johnson also has the state record for the largest white sucker caught at Flaming Gorge with a bow and arrow. But Johnson doesn't hold all the titles...at least he hasn't beat this one.. Robert Bringhurst along with his brother James hold the state record for catching the largest brown trout -- weighing in at 33 pounds10 ounces, 40 inches long. The Bringhursts have held that record for 36 years now.
