SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — A recent senior prank perfectly embodies the purpose of a senior prank without harming anyone or damaging school property.

Senior pranks are often a recipe for disaster because you have a mob-mentality situation that’s run by teenagers who aren’t always known for making safe and appropriate decisions that remain in the confines of the law.

In that light, Santa Barbara High School’s senior prank becomes the freshest breath of fresh air in a sea of damaged school property and withheld diplomas that we hear about every year.

Plus, it’s pure genius.

The seniors hired a four-piece mariachi band to follow their principal around for one hour. Now you see the brilliance of this prank because not only does it thoroughly harass the principal without being cruel, but also the entire school gets to enjoy the prank and have a good laugh without any lectures or cleaning in the aftermath.

So hold your heads high, SBHS graduating class of 2014. Because the world seems a little better and the future seems a little brighter to have your clever, generous and funny brains coming up to join our adult ranks.
