LYNCHBURG, Va. — A photo that has gone viral recently captures a moment of peace in the frenzied minutes before a couple's marriage ceremony.

Photographer Kimberly Burke snapped the photo of Bre Curtas, 23, and her now-husband, Josh, as they stole a private moment in the midst of the hectic wedding-day atmosphere. In a post on Tumblr, Bre explained what the photo represents.

She said moments before she was to walk down the aisle, her future mother-in-law came to her dressing room and said her groom had called for her. Bre was led away from her bridesmaids and to a chair just around the corner from where Josh was sitting.

"In my excited state I was the first to speak, ‘Hi sweetie! We're getting married today!' " Curtas wrote. " ‘I know baby, and I want to pray with you before we do.' There we sat around the corner hand in hand, and together we bowed our heads."

This was just my personal journey. We made a commitment to each other and the Lord.

–Bre Curtas

Curtas said her husband prayed God would bless their marriage and that the two would never lose hope in one another.

"With our hands clenched tightly to one another together we said ‘Amen,' both with shaky voice and just like that I was whisked away to blot the tears off my face and put on my veil," she wrote.

She described her desire to remain a virgin until marriage and how Josh helped her in times of temptation. She said at times it seemed impossible, but it was the right choice for her.

"Plenty of people disagree and they're entitled to that. I'm not going to say that if you don't wait you're not pure," Curtas told the New York Daily News. "This was just my personal journey. We made a commitment to each other and the Lord."
