SALT LAKE CITY — A new ad campaign in Seattle takes a page from the "I'm a Mormon" series of ads that has been running in that city since October 2011.

The new ads seen on 12 Metro buses in Seattle state, "I'm a Palestinian....equal rights for all."

KING TV reports the ads are paid for by SeaMAC, The Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign, a small group dedicated to the Palestinian cause.

The group tried to launch an ad saying, "Israeli war crimes...your tax dollars at work," in 2010, but Metro dropped the campaign under pressure and cited possible security concerns, KING reports. SeaMAC unsuccessfully challenged the action in court.

Metro noted similarities to the Mormon ads in approving the newest round of Palestinian advertisements, which are scheduled to run through the end of the month.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints launched the "I'm a Mormon" campaign in 2010 and expanded it into 13 cities, including Seattle, last fall. The campaign includes TV spots, billboards, and ads on buses and on the Internet meant to give a glimpse into the lives of Latter-day Saints from all over the world. It refers people to the mormon.org website.
