ANNAPOLIS (AP) — Virginia Tech makes its 23rd straight bowl appearance, the second-longest bowl streak in the nation behind Florida State, when it plays Cincinnati at the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland. (1 p.m. Eastern kickoff). Hokies coach Frank Beamer will work in an upstairs coaching box while recovering from throat surgery.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — The Sun Bowl (2 p.m. Eastern) is a good intersectional matchup between Duke out of the ACC and Arizona State out of the Pac-12. Duke is looking for its first bowl win since 1961.

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — It's been a disappointing football season for both Miami and South Carolina, and now each team hopes to salvage some pride in the Independence Bowl game (4 p.m. Eastern). Miami is trying to snap a four-game bowl losing streak and hasn't won in the postseason since the 2006 MPC Computers Bowl over Nevada.

UNDATED (AP)— Today's bowl lineup concludes with Penn State taking on Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium (4:30 p.m. kickoff) and Nebraska playing Southern California in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. Penn State is back in the bowl game business after the NCAA rescinded penalties levied in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal, and is trying to win its first bowl since the 2010 Capital One Bowl.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — There's a dandy of a college basketball matchup today (2 p.m. Eastern) between top-ranked Kentucky and No. 4 Louisville. Both teams are undefeated, and the winner will hold basketball bragging rights in the Bluegrass State at least until their next meeting.
