OGDEN — An elderly man was injured Saturday afternoon after the vehicle he was driving collided with a semitruck and rolled on its side.

Around 12 p.m., the 77-year-old man was driving a Ford Explorer northbound on 4700 West in Ogden. A semitruck made a left hand turn onto northbound 4700 West from 500 South and failed to yield to the Explorer, according to Weber County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Allen. The elderly man tried to avoid the collision and clipped the front of the semitruck causing his car to roll and end up on its side, Allen said.

The man was pinned in by the steering wheel and first responders had to remove the roof to get him out. He was pinned in the car for about an hour.

The man was flown to a hospital in Salt Lake City in stable condition, Allen said.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
