SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's CVX Live, a social media convention now in its third year, recently announced a special guest: Sadie Robertson from the popular Duck Dynasty TV show.

CVX Live will be held at the Salt Palace Convention Center Aug. 3-5, and will boast guest speakers who have garnered a combined 30 billion online views.

"Utah is such a great spot for this type of event," CVX Live founder John Roberts said. "The amount of talent here, as well as the supportive fan base, it's really hard to beat."

Many visitors come for meet-and-greet opportunities with special guests, but the convention has become far more than a fan event. Those wanting to learn how to start or grow their own social media business may purchase an industry pass, which allows them to network with and learn directly from social media celebrities. The founders consider it a way of giving back.

When the Roberts brothers, founders of CVX Live and BoredShorts TV, saw the need for clean and quality entertainment online, they decided to create a convention where family-friendly internet celebrities and viewers could mingle. As a result, CVX Live was created in 2015.

"We really try hard to make this an event where you can feel safe with your kids or dropping off your teenagers without worrying about the content of the event," Roberts said. "It's important to us."

He initially expected the convention to do well in Utah, but what he didn't expect was its rapid international growth and popularity, "with fans coming from all over the world to participate," Roberts said.

Utah Valley University hosted the event during its first two years, but in 2017, Roberts and his brothers moved the event to the Salt Palace in order to accommodate more guests. More than 20,000 visitors are expected to attend this year's convention.

Stage performances will include live music, video premieres, panels, magic, comedy, beauty tutorials and science demonstrations. Superfan experiences, which include the chance for attendees to spend an hour with the guest of their choice, are expected to be very popular this year.

In addition to the Duck Dynasty star, this year's CVX Live lineup includes special guests Bratayley, Pranksters in Love, Jacy and Kacy, The Ballinger Family, Brian Brushwood, Cullen and Katie, The Holderness Family, Fam Jam and 8 Passengers.

Returning guests include Grant Thompson, Brooklyn and Bailey, Shonduras, Kid History, Cute Girls Hairstyles, Peter Hollens, What's Inside, Ellie and Jared, Aspyn Ovard, Stuart Edge and Jack Vale. Additional celebrity guests will be announced in coming months.

Early bird ticket sales end April 30 and prices for entry range from $25 for a 1-day fan pass to $269 for a 3-day Industry pass.
