THE MOVIE VAULT — Do you ever lie in bed at night gripped with panic as you contemplate your own mortality and the fact there are still so many good movies you have never seen?

If you're like us here at the KSL Movie Club this is an almost nightly occurrence. So we thought we would do something about it: April’s KSL Movie Club theme is “movies we've always wanted to see, but haven't gotten around to watching yet.”

What better way to ease some of the existential anxiety in our lives than by checking off a few bucket list movies this month?

We’ll be chatting about each pick in more detail on the KSL Popcorn Report podcast throughout the month of April. We'd love for you to rewatch the movies (or watch them for the first time) and give us your feedback on each movie, either in the comments or by tweeting us, @KSLPopReport.

John’s pick: ‘Blade Runner

“It is with a heavy heart and a fair amount of shame that I admit that I have never seen 'Blade Runner.' It's not for a lack of wanting to, it's just never happened. I don't own it, don't want to go buy it and I'm constantly praying that Netflix will add it. That still hasn't happened.

“As a huge fan of film, it seems insane that I've never seen a classic in the sci-fi cannon, but here we are. With "Blade Runner 2049" headed to theaters this year, it's about time I finally did this. Anyone have a copy I can borrow?”

"Blade Runner" is rated R for violence and some nudity.

Faith’s pick: ‘Mr. Smith Goes to Washington’

"So, this one may seem kind of random, but I’m an old soul and I love old movies. This 1939 classic is one that many a high school class has had to watch as part of their civics courses— except for my class, apparently. But regardless, 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington' is one that I’ve heard a lot about and have always wanted to watch, but just never got around to for one reason or another.

Related Stories:

"This film stars the great Jimmy Stewart, and won an Oscar for best writing. It was also nominated for a whopping 10 more Oscars, including Stewart for best actor. Needless to say, I’m excited to finally get around to watching it. Who doesn’t love a great flick about politics and scandal?"

David’s pick: ‘Citizen Kane’

“To stick to Faith’s old timey theme, I’m going with 'Citizen Kane.' This one almost seems too obvious and maybe a little cliched, but the truth is, I have always wanted to see this film and have been perpetually 'getting around to it' for years.

"The evidence for this lies in the DVD box set given to me eight years ago for Christmas still sitting dusty and unwrapped under my bedroom dresser. Because I have owned this movie for nearly a decade, the time for 'getting around to watching it' is over— I must now become a man of action.

"'Citizen Kane' is by almost all accounts one of the most influential movies ever made, so I suppose it’s time to see what all the fuss is about."

Curt's pick: ‘Sing Street’

“I remember seeing the trailer for 'Sing Street' about two years ago and thinking that it looked like an entertaining movie. Several people who saw it told me that it was fantastic. The movie was even released on Netflix making it crazy simple for me to watch.

"Needless to say, I have yet to see it. I will admit I’ve watched some bad movies on Netflix since 'Sing Street' was released, but for some reason keep forgetting about it even though it's in my cue to watch.

"'Sing Street' is about a boy in Dublin, Ireland, who is the new kid at his high school. The kid forms a band to impress a girl and somehow there is enough material there to make a movie. It received rave reviews, and I have yet to talk to someone that didn't like it. I'll finally take the plunge and watch it this month."

Have you seen these movies? If so, what did you think about them? And what movies have you always wanted to see but haven’t taken the time to sit down and watch yet? Let us know in the comments.
