SALT LAKE CITY — Freshman Devon Daniels did not travel with the team to Colorado Thursday after being suspended indefinitely, Larry Krystkowiak announced.
Krystkowiak said in a statement a few hours before a road matchup against Colorado that Daniels was suspended “due to conduct detrimental to the team.” Details of Daniels’ suspension was not made immediately known.
The freshman from Battle Creek, Michigan started in 26 of 27 games for the Utes this season and was a dynamic guard in his rookie season. Daniels averaged 10.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 rebounds per game, while shooting a 61.1 percent effective field goal percentage.
Earlier in the season, Daniels was removed from the starting lineup for a game after showing up late to a few team events that week. Krystkowiak said that Daniels needed to be on time to stay in the starting lineup.
Utah is set to play the Buffaloes in Colorado with tipoff expected at 9 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
