SALT LAKE CITY — Independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin has raised just over a $1 million since entering the race in August.
More than half of that total came in the first three weeks of October, according to his latest Federal Election Commission report.
McMullin pulled in $527,000 from Oct. 1-19. He started the month with about $4,300. According the report, the former CIA operations officer has spent $776,000 to date and had $249,000 on hand at the end of the reporting period.
Large and small contributions from individuals account for all the money he has raised. No political action committees have contributed, nor has the candidate himself, according to the report.
McMullin's campaign has picked up steam the past couple of weeks. He has a chance to beat Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton in Utah.
