HOTH — There’s a reason people love fall.

The air is cool and crisp and orange and yellow leaves crunch underfoot when you go apple picking in a well-lit orchard. Well, I’ve never done that, but Instagram makes it seem like a common occurrence.

I love fall because it was back-to-school season (yes, I’m that person) and because of Halloween. I’ve always loved dressing up.

I’ve gone as Lieutenant Dan from “Forrest Gump” and even hand-sewn a costume version of one of those wacky inflatable tube men that get placed outside of used car dealerships. I like making people laugh, pumpkin carving and hot cider, so why wouldn’t I love the time of year when all those things converge?

As a person who handmakes a lot of costumes this time of year, I appreciate this video posted by clint case on YouTube of a little boy dressed up as Luke Skywalker riding a Tauntaun. Featured in “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” on the planet Hoth, Tauntauns are actually snow lizards (go figure) that members of the Rebel Alliance rode around on during patrols.

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

One lucky little boy had one singularly incredible Star Wars costume handmade for him, complete with a wrist communication system and an only slightly wonky Tauntaun.

It reminds me of the Millennium Falcon a Sandy family made for their son last year.

Bottom line, Halloween is great and costumes are fun. What’s your favorite costume you’ve ever had?
