OGDEN, Utah (AP) — An old water basin covered in graffiti in Weber County that served as a popular hangout has been filled in due to concern about criminal activity.
The Standard-Examiner reports that the structure commonly called the "graffiti bowl" has been filled in with dirt by the Utah Department of Administrative Services.
Department Director of Operations Marilee Richins says her office was contacted by the North Ogden Police Department in April about an uptick in criminal activity associated with the bowl.
North Ogden Police Detective Paul Rhoades says in addition to complaints about litter and tagging in the bowl, there was an increase in drug-related crimes at the site.

The graffiti bowl sparked debate among neighbors. Some thought it attracted trash, while others found it was a community gathering area.
