Vivint Invitational: East rolls by host Orem; Taylorsville falls to Nevada's Basic

OREM — Three games. Two days. One venue.

That was the challenge at Orem High on the second week of the 2016 high school football season for the Vivint Invitational.

Mountain Crest started off the weekend with a 36-6 win over Spring Valley (Nev.) on Friday night. The next day, Taylorsville took on Basic (Nev.), and East and host Orem finished off the nightcap Saturday evening.

Mountain Crest 36, Spring Valley (Nev.) 6 — Beau Robinson accounted for four touchdowns to lead the Mustangs past Las Vegas’ Grizzlies on Friday night.

Robinson caught two touchdown passes, ran for a 7-yard score, and added a 49-yard interception return for a touchdown as Mountain Crest broke open a scoreless game after one quarter.

Creedyn Foulger hauled in two touchdown passes from Brady Hall, who tossed three TD strikes.

Basic (Nev.) 55, Taylorsville 48 — No lead was safe as the Wolves pulled away from the Warriors with a 13-6 edge in the final quarter.

James Paster Lewis ran for three touchdowns to lead Taylorsville, who got a pair of touchdown passes from Dane Leituala and an 84-yard kick return from Jace Simons.

East 38, Orem 0 — Jaylen Warren ran for three touchdowns and Ben Ford added a 70-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to ice the shutout as the Leopards cruised by the hosts.

Warren scored on runs of 58, 42 and 4 yards as East broke open a scoreless first quarter to take a 17-0 halftime lead.

Lehi Molisi added a 1-yard TD dive, and Matt Barker kicked a 37-yard field goal for the Leopards.
