THE FUTURE — A few months ago, a video came out showing off an incredible new design for an elevated bus to help ease traffic. The bus is two lanes wide and elevated off the ground so cars can easily pass under it. The concept seemed like something out of a science fiction movie, but it's now a reality.
The first test run for the bus in China looks like it went smoothly. You can see cars easily pass underneath while the roomy cabin of the bus comfortably seats, I think, a billion. My numbers may be off, but that cabin looks more like a cruise ship ballroom than a bus cabin.
When I dream of transportation of the future, I think of "Back to the Future Part II" and flying cars, but an elevated bus isn't a bad consolation prize. If we ever get these in the United States, I think I'm going to start riding the bus — not just for the roomy confines, but also because I think I'd have a minor panic attack every time a bus swallowed my car like a giant whale.
