SALT LAKE CITY — A former day care worker has been charged with abusing a 5-year-old boy.

Carlos Rodriguez, 19, of Salt Lake City, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.

Police say the incident happened in March at Destination Children's Center, 581 N. Redwood Road. A 5-year-old boy told his mother that Rodriguez pulled down his pants during nap time several times and then pulled them back up, charging documents state.

"I told him no but he did it anyway," the boy allegedly told authorities.

Police say Rodriguez had only worked at the center for a short time. An investigation by police found no other victims, said Salt Lake police detective Cody Lougy.

A $75,000 warrant was issued for Rodriguez's arrest.
