BOUNTIFUL — A Bountiful woman died Tuesday after being hit by a truck in an intersection the day before.

Cheryl Engh Card, 54, was crossing the Bountiful intersection at 200 West and 100 South around 10:15 a.m. Monday when she was struck by a truck driver who initially didn't see her, according to police.

Card was airlifted to University Hospital in Salt Lake City in critical condition, but succumbed to her injuries Tuesday.

The 55-year-old truck driver who hit Card rendered aid to her at the scene and has been cooperating with detectives, said Bountiful Police Lt. Dave Edwards. There is no indication that alcohol, drugs or cellphone distraction contributed to the collision, though the investigation into what happened is ongoing, he said.

Edwards suggested Tuesday it was possible that the sun was impeding the driver's eyesight at the time.

There is no crosswalk where Card was crossing, according to investigators.
