LEHI — Following the death of a popular blogger’s husband, a Utah company and a blogger are putting together a pop-up shop at Thanksgiving Point to raise funds for her family.

Emily Meyers is the author of The Freckled Fox, a blog featuring recipes, fashion, hair tutorials and more. She lives in Twin Falls, Idaho, and is the mother of five young children. Recently, her husband died from stage four melanoma, according to her friend Jen Jurca.

“Yesterday morning while the sun was shining, I held Martin's hand as he took his last breath and slipped quietly into eternity,” Meyers wrote on her blog. “The heartbreak I feel is far more crippling than I ever imagined, but more powerful still is the happiness from knowing he has finally found peace from his pain, that he's walking with angels, and that we will be together again one day.”

Meyers told KSL.com her husband was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2015 shortly after participating in a bodybuilding competition.

She has received support from her online community since her husband was diagnosed, she said.

“I could get on every day and I would see people telling me that I was strong and that I could do it and that they were praying for me, and it helped me every day when I felt down or depressed or discouraged I could get on and know that I had people there that were rooting for me.”

Jurca, co-author of Elevate Everyday, and Jane.com are hosting the pop-up shop, which will take place from 5 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at 3401 N. Thanksgiving Way, according to the event Facebook page.

Jurca and Heidi Philipp with Jane.com reached out to some Jane.com sellers, some brands Jurca has worked with and some brands that have worked with Meyers, Jurca said.

“And so we’ve rounded up, I want to say that we have close to 40 vendors, we have six food trucks coming, we’re raffling off 38 prizes that go between $50 and $1,200,” Jurca said. Those who attend the pop-up shop can purchase clothes, swimsuits, chocolate, accessories and more.

“Emily Meyers has shared her story publicly for the past year as her husband and family fought the cancer,” Philipp said. “Many of our employees have followed her story closely and it honestly felt like even though we weren't there to comfort her or help during the past year, we were a virtual support group.

“So when Jen from Elevate approached us about doing this fundraiser, it was easy to jump on it. Beyond offering emotional support, we know that in many cases families need financial support to help cover costs from these battles. Many of the sellers, food trucks, and other participants in the event tonight have offered to donate proceeds from some of their sales to a fund to support Emily. We'll also have raffle prizes with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards that fund. And there will be opportunities for attendees to donate if they choose to do so.”

One of Meyers’ friends set up a YouCaring account* for her family. As of Wednesday afternoon, more than $77,000 had been donated to it.
