TOOELE — Windy weather didn’t get in the way of Utahns sending thousands of lanterns into the night sky Saturday.
The Lantern Fest returned to Utah for its second time Saturday. Event organizers said they expected around 7,000 people to show up for the celebration at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele.
Groups of family and friends camped out on the site for hours, roasting marshmallows and listening to a music performance from Tennessee’s Chloe Kat while waiting for the sun to go down. At 9:30 p.m., after several delays due to wind concerns, the festival’s attendees were able to release their lanterns into the sky.
