CEDAR CITY — A Colorado man and woman were arrested Monday evening after the man led officers on a pursuit down Cedar City Main Street and hit a police vehicle.

Cedar City police officers conducted a traffic stop for a DUI investigation in a parking lot at 138 S. Main Street around 6:15 p.m., police said. While the female driver, Katrina Box, was undergoing a field sobriety test, the 31-year-old male passenger, Anthony Mike, moved into the driver’s seat and began driving the vehicle, police said.

Mike spun the vehicle in four small circles before fleeing from the parking lot. While Mike was fleeing the scene, Box attempted to get into the vehicle. Officers restrained her, but she attempted to assault an officer during the struggle, police said.

Mike led officers on a high-speed chase along Main Street, running several red lights and driving recklessly, police said. He slowed down and began driving into oncoming traffic near 900 South.

An officer positioned his vehicle in front of Mike to prevent him from driving into oncoming traffic and Mike hit the side of the police vehicle. However, Mike was traveling very slowly at the time of the collision and the officer was not injured, police said.

Mike was arrested and booked into the Iron County Correctional Facility in connection with driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to stop at the command of police, failure to stop at a red light and resisting arrest.

Box was also booked into the Iron County Correctional facility on suspicion of driving under the influence, interference with an arrest, disorderly conduct, intoxication and for having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. Officials charges were pending for Box Tuesday afternoon.
