Siliga, Wagner lead teams to big victories over divisional rivals

SALT LAKE CITY- New England defensive lineman Sealver Siliga is on a top-flight team, preparing for the playoffs.

The Utah alumnus had six tackles and a sack as New England beat the Miami Dolphins 41-13. Siliga wasn’t the only Utah alum to make an impact on the game, as Miami Dolphins defender Derrick Shelby made two tackles in the game.

Other notable performances on the day included Utah State alum Bobby Wagner’s 10 tackles and a sack as Seattle beat the San Francisco 49ers 17-7. Also, Kansas City quarterback Alex Smith passed for 297 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-13 win over Oakland. Chiefs defender Sean Smith made a tackle in the game.


Wagner finished with 10 tackles, while Siliga made six tackles and a sack.

Paul Kruger made two tackles and a sack in Cleveland’s 30-0 loss to Cincinnati, while Brice McCain made three tackles in Pittsburgh’s 27-20 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Paul Soliai had two tackles for Atlanta in the loss. San Diego safety Eric Weddle made nine tackles in the Chargers’ loss to Denver, 22-10. Tenny Palepoi also had a tackle for San Diego.

Baltimore receiver Steve Smith had five catches for 37 yards as the Ravens defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-12. Also, Matt Asiata rushed for 36 yards and scored a touchdown, but the Minnesota Vikings fell just short to the Detroit Lions, 16-14.

BYU alumni Ezekiel Ansah and Kyle Van Noy combined for two tackles in Detroit’s win over Minnesota.

Utah State alum Robert Turbin rushed for 33 yards in Seattle’s win over San Francisco, while Kerwynn Williams rushed for 70 yards in Arizona’s 12-6 win over St. Louis.
