CLEVERTON — Filming in stop-motion is a painstakingly slow process, but more often than not, the visual results are well worth it.

A man only known as PES can certainly testify to that fact. He has made a name for himself by creating oodles of short films and ads with stop-motion. But his genius doesn’t lie in the technique itself, rather it lies in his clever interpretations of the mundane into whimsical surprises.

Where PES especially shines (and stays family friendly) is in his series of stop-motion cooking videos.

PES has made a new video called “Submarine Sandwich” that shows the making of said sandwich in a deli. I won’t spoil the charm of the film by failing to use the right words to convey the surprises that await in the video, just know that it feels like you’re watching a kiss of magic.

Check out PES’s other cooking videos “Western Spaghetti” and “Fresh Guacamole,” the latter of which earned PES an Academy Award nomination in 2013. And for a little more food-related fun, watch “Fireworks.”
