CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — A Massachusetts man got amazing video footage of a hawk when it swooped in and attacked his drone Wednesday.

Software developer Christopher Schmidt flies his Phantom FC40 quadcopter drone in public areas a few times each week, according to Yahoo Tech. Schmidt films the flights by attaching a GoPro to his drone. On Wednesday, he was flying his quadcopter at Magazine Beach Park in Cambridge, “when a hawk decided he wasn’t too happy with my invasion of his airspace,” Schmidt wrote on YouTube.

The video shows a hawk swoop out of the sky and attempt to snatch the drone with its feet. Schmidt said when he saw the bird flying toward the drone, he throttled down on the props to try and minimize any harm to the bird. As a result, the drone fell out of the sky and crash landed upside down on the ground.

“As far as I could tell, the hawk came out unscathed, and having defeated his prey, was happy to retreat,” Schmidt wrote on YouTube.

The quadcopter drone was not damaged and the interaction resulted in an amazing video.
