ORLANDO — The magic of Disney animation has found its way onto wedding cakes.

Disney introduced new wedding cake projection mapping technology — similar to the technology it uses during shows in its parks — at the Fairy Tale Weddings Expo Saturday. With the technology, those celebrating their big day can opt for a "mini movie" to be projected onto a blank, white cake.

Visitors to the expo captured the cake display on video and posted it to YouTube. Disney Weddings also posted a video Tuesday explaining the cake projection mapping service.

The animated cakes are only available for weddings at Walt Disney World as part of the Wishes Collection, according to the Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons blog. Basic Wishes Collection celebrations start at $12,000.

The projections are fully customizable and can be designed to include photo slideshows, home videos or favorite quotes, according to the blog.

Disney filed a patent for "augmented reality cakes" in 2012. Other companies also offer similar services.
