JAPAN — Japanese Burger King restaurants are giving the food a new look with an added option of an all-black burger.
The Kuro Burgers were unveiled Thursday and will be released Sept. 19 in Japanese restaurants, according to Time magazine. The buns and cheese slices on the Kuro Burgers have been blackened with bamboo charcoal and even the ketchup boasts a gothic hue due to an addition of squid ink, according to NBC News.
The Kuro Pearl Burger will only have a bun, meat and cheese while the Kuro Diamond Burger will include familiar vegetable toppings like lettuce, tomato and onion. The vegetables and beef patties will retain their original color, but the beef patties are made with black pepper to add to the transformation of the black burger.
The black burgers will only be available until November and were produced “as a chance to overturn the fast-food industry,” according to NBC News.
