ONTARIO, Ore. (AP) — More than a foot of snow fell overnight in Malheur County in southeastern Oregon as residents there struggle with mountains of the white stuff.

Josh Smith, a National Weather Service meteorologist based in Boise, Idaho, says the area got between 12 and 15 inches of snow Wednesday into Thursday.

The Argus Observer reports (http://bit.ly/2k8lEEO ) that county officials measured 28 inches of snow outside one of their offices.

The storm added to the mountains of snow that's already been hampering the county that is close to the Idaho border.

All county offices in Malheur County are closed Thursday and Friday.

Parts of Interstate 84 north of Ontario were shut down due to blowing and drifting snow.

Meanwhile, further west I-84 remained closed between Troutdale and Hood River due to icy conditions.
