SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A coalition of Utah media organizations is calling on a judge to make public any video of a fatal police shooting inside a federal courthouse that becomes part of a wrongful death lawsuit.

The group of 10 organizations including The Associated Press said in court documents Friday that video of the 2014 shooting raises questions about police use of force during a public trial and the U.S. government shouldn't be granted permission to file it under seal.

Federal attorneys want to use the video as part of their defense against a lawsuit filed over the death of 25-year-old Siale Angilau. Authorities say he was shot by a U.S. marshal after lunging at a witness with a pen during his racketeering trial.

Federal officials have refused previous calls to release video of the shooting.
