CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Authorities say a Casper driver who stopped along the side of a highway after hitting a deer was struck and killed by a semitrailer over the weekend.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2hgV07a ) that 82-year-old Homer Berry had stopped his SUV on the side of Interstate 25 early Saturday. The man's vehicle had been parked partially in the shoulder of the highway but a part of the SUV was still in the right lane.

The semitrailer driver, Charles Wilson of Montana, then struck Berry, who died at the scene. Wilson was not injured.

State troopers are investigating inattention by both parties involved as contributing factors in the man's death.
