BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Some 100 military and civilian airplanes and helicopters from nine countries have begun daring air exercises at an airshow in the Romanian capital.

Thousands of spectators are expected to watch the Bucharest International Air Show Saturday at the Baneasa Airport in scorching temperatures.

Organizers have promised air acrobatics, audacious air displays and parachute jumps from 250 pilots from Romania, the U.S., Greece, Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Ukraine.

The Czech Air Force will fly Saab 39 Gripen fighter aircraft, while the U.S. Air Force will take part with the F-15 Eagle, its primary fighter jet aircraft. Austria's Flying Bulls are also at the show.

Some 300 security and other officials will be at the event.
